To practice along for your Recorder Karate Belt Tests:

Use the Recorder Karate Packet and go to the Recorder Karate Dojo Website to practice for your belt tests. enter here (user name and the password were given in class; see me if you need them again)

Go to the Recorder Karate Dojo to practice along with the Recorder Karate Songs

Recorder Practice Checklist

1.  Clap and say the rhythms □

·         (Check your time signature and use your clapping names, “ta” and “ti”)

2.  Clap and say the letter names □

·         (Check your key signature and use your “lines and spaces rap” to figure out the letter names! Only write the letters if you absolutely have to!)

3.  Air Play and SING! □

·       (no blowing, just your fingers are moving)

4.  Play! □

Complete each step before moving on to the next.  If you haven’t mastered #1, go back and try it again. When you get it right, then you can move to step #2.  *If you’re having trouble with one particular part in your music, use these steps for just that part, until you get it right! 

Practice, practice, practice! You can do it!! J

Recorder Position Checklist

1.  LEFT hand on top  □

2.  Recorder in line with your chest (not like a trumpet!) □

3.  Fingers cover the holes (pads over entire hole!) □

4.  Slow, warm air (fog the mirror breathing) □

*Always use a pencil when writing in your music!

*Find a quiet place to practice! 

Remember: Practice 5 minutes a day, everyday!
