How to Prepare for your Broadway Bonanza Audition

You can practice these songs using the links below or by looking them up on
your musical apps (iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, etc.) with your parents permission!

Pick ONE song from the Boys/Girls Audition List (below) that you think you sound best on.
On your audition day we will listen to each song on the list.
On your audition day we will listen to you in small groups first, then individually.

It would be best that you are familiar with ALL of the songs on the list just in case we’d like to hear you
on a different song (to hear your range and tone).  Practice and prepare as many of the songs on the
list as possible but pick ONE to showcase your voice.
*We will have lyric sheets for you to read off of so do not worry about memorizing!*
If you would like a lyric sheet for home, please get one from Mrs. B! :)

Our Audition Schedule is as follows:

Girls on Wednesday, January 8th at 8:15am in Mrs. B's Room
Boys on Thursday, January 9th at 8:15 am in Mrs. B's Room

Boys and Girls that we might need to hear again will come on Monday, January 13th at 8:15am in Mrs. B's Room. This is considered a “Call Back”.

Please understand that we have a lot of children to listen to.
We will not be able to hear all of you more than once.
Breathe deep and try your best when it’s your turn to sing solo.

Keep in mind:
If you are uncomfortable singing in front of people, then a lead part is probably not for you and
that’s OK! We still need you in our Ensembles! You will still be in the show and will have a lot of fun;
trust us! :) If you do not get a Lead Role you will be placed in the Ensemble of the show we think fits
you best. Everyone is in the Opening and Closing numbers.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us. Looking forward to hearing you sing for us!
Good Luck!

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!!!

Circle of Life:
(Sarafina) From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done

(Sarabi)There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

(Ensemble)
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle of Life
The Circle of Life

Hakuna Matata (Timon/Pumba/Simba)
T: Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase
P: Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze
T: It means no worries for the rest of your days
B: It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
S: Hakuna Matata?
T: Yeah. It's our motto!
S: What's a motto?
T: Nothing. What's a-motto with you?
P: Those two words will solve all your problems
T: That's right. Take Pumbaa here
Why, when he was a young warthog...
P: When I was a young wart hog
T: Very nice
P: Thanks
T: He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal
He could clear the savannah after every meal
P: I'm a sensitive soul though I seem thick-skinned
And it hurt that my friends never stood downwind
And oh, the shame
T: He was ashamed
P: Thought of changin' my name
T: What's in a name?
P: And I got downhearted
T: How did ya feel?
P: Everytime that I...
T: Hey! Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids!
P: Oh. Sorry
B: Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries for the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
ALL: Hakuna Matata! Hakuna matata!
Hakuna Matata! Hakuna matata!
Hakuna Matata! Hakuna matata!
Hakuna Matata! Hakuna--
S: It means no worries for the rest of your days
ALL: It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!

I Just Can't Wait to be King!
[Simba:] I'm gonna be a mighty king

So enemies beware!

[Zazu:] Well, I've never seen a king of beasts

With quite so little hair

[Simba:] I'm gonna be the mane event

Like no king was before

I'm brushing up on looking down

I'm working on my ROAR

[Zazu:] Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing

[Simba:] Oh, I just can't wait to be king!

[Zazu: (Speaking)] You've rather a long way to go,

young master, if you think...

[Simba:] No one saying do this

[Zazu:] Now when I said that, I--

[Nala:] No one saying be there

[Zazu:] What I meant was...

[Simba:] No one saying stop that

[Zazu:] Look, what you don't realize...

[Simba and Nala:] No one saying see here

[Zazu:] Now see here!

[Simba:] Free to run around all day

[Zazu:] Well, that's definitely out...

[Simba:] Free to do it all my way!

[Zazu:] I think it's time that you and I

Arranged a heart to heart

[Simba:] Kings don't need advice

From little hornbills for a start

[Zazu:] If this is where the monarchy is headed

Count me out!

Out of service, out of Africa

I wouldn't hang about... aagh!

This child is getting wildly out of wing

[Simba:] Oh, I just can't wait to be king!

Everybody look left

Everybody look right

Everywhere you look I'm

Standing in the spotlight!

[Zazu: (Speaking, but in strict time)] Not yet!

[Chorus:] Let every creature go for broke and sing

Let's hear it in the herd and on the wing

It's gonna be King Simba's finest fling

[Simba & Chorus:] Oh I just can't wait to be king!

Oh I just can't wait to be king!

Oh I just can't waaaaaait ... to be king!
